There are two main locations in Jamaica. We can obtain a police record. One main office is in Kingston on Duke Street, and the other is located in Pompano Bay, St. Mary.

To start the process, you will need to visit the inland revenue department (tax Office) closest to you. At the tax office, you will take a long identification and pay for the service you require, whether it be 21 working days, five working days, or the next day service, which is only available in the Duke Street branch in Kingston.

Cost of a Police Record in Jamaica:

  • JA$3,000.00 for Regular Service – 21 working days
  • JA$6,000.00 for the Express Service – 5 working days
  • JA$8,000.00 – Next Day Service (only available in Kingston)

The service you choose will depend on your urgency. Once you have paid your fee at the tax office, you will need to collect your receipt. You will need to ensure that the name on the receipt matches that of your national identification.

It is advised that you called I have the branches for an available appointment to present your documents

The documents you will need with you are:

  • The receipt was given to you at the tax office.
  • Two passport size photographs note that these photos do not need to be certified.
  • You will need your taxpayer registration number (TRN).
  • You will also need valid identification in the form of a passport, national identification card, or a drivers license
  • If you require your police record for overseas purposes, a valid passport with at least six months of travel must be available.

What if I can’t pick up my police record on time given.

If you are not available on the date given to collect the results from your police record, you may choose to send someone to collect it for you. This person would require a letter of authorization from you as well as a valid identification. The letter of approval must include the person‘s full name as presented on the identification.

What if you live abroad but need a police record from Jamaica?

If you are overseas and need a police record, the following steps must be observed:

  • To have your fingerprint taken, have your document stamped and signed by a police officer or another reputable agency take your fingerprints for you. The name and position of the person taking your fingerprint must be clearly stated on the document.
